Capabilities

Engineering for connected software

Six capability areas cover the interfaces people use, the systems behind them and the delivery that keeps them running. Each area is designed to work with the others, so a product holds together as it grows.

Six areas

What the team can build

Each card summarizes what an area delivers for the business. Its detailed section explains the deliverables, the roles that own the work and how it is checked.
Integration

How the areas fit together

Most products combine several areas. Client applications share one API, data stays in one place, and AI and delivery attach to the same system rather than living beside it.

Example architecture

Dashed parts are optional

Web client

Browser interface and admin areas

Mobile client

Android and iOS apps

Desktop client

Windows, macOS and Linux

Authenticated requests over HTTPS

API and business logic

Authentication, authorization, validation and business rules

Queries and transactions

Data layer

Relational database, files and search

Background jobs

AI workflow

Extraction or retrieval with a human review step

Deploys and observes every layer

Deployment layer

CI/CD pipeline, environments, containers, logging, monitoring and backups

An example, not a fixed template. Web, mobile and desktop clients share one API, which owns permissions, rules and access to data. An optional AI workflow runs as background work with a review step, and the deployment layer ships and observes every part.

01 Web and enterprise

Web and enterprise

Web products and internal systems that support real work.

Web and enterprise applications are the center of our work. Frontend and backend engineers design the interface, the API and the data model together, so a customer-facing product or an internal tool behaves consistently from the first screen to the database.

The choice between cross-platform and native depends on platform and device requirements.

03 Desktop

Desktop applications

Software that works closely with a local device.

Some work belongs on the desktop: tools that handle local files, connect to devices or keep working without a browser. Our desktop developer builds applications and utilities for Windows, macOS and Linux and packages them for the agreed platforms.

Technical coverage: Local data, files, OS APIs, native components and application packaging.

Common deliverables

  • Windows, macOS and Linux applications
  • Utilities and command line tools
  • Local data and file handling
  • Installers and packaged releases

  • Installation, update and packaging steps

How it connects

  1. Desktop appInterface or command line
  2. OS APIsFiles and devices
  3. Local dataFiles and database
  4. PackagingAgreed platforms

Team ownership

  • Desktop Application Developer

The desktop developer owns the application and its packaging, working with backend roles where it connects to shared systems.

Technologies

Options considered per project: C#, .NET, C/C++, Python, Qt, Electron, Tauri.

The desktop stack is chosen for each project from options such as these.

04 AI

AI and automation

AI features integrated into a usable software workflow.

AI is most useful inside software people already rely on. Our AI and ML engineer builds features such as document extraction, knowledge tools and workflow automation, and connects them to the surrounding application with evaluation and human review designed in.

Technical coverage: LLM applications, document processing, ML pipelines and review paths.

Common deliverables

  • AI features inside existing workflows
  • Document extraction and processing
  • Knowledge tools with source-linked answers
  • Evaluation sets and human review steps

How we make it dependable

  • Evaluation on representative examples before launch
  • Review paths for uncertain or high-impact results
  • Access boundaries that match the rest of the application

How it connects

  1. Source dataDocuments and records
  2. AI stepExtraction or retrieval
  3. ReviewHuman approval
  4. ApplicationApproved results

Team ownership

  • AI and ML Engineer

Libraries and model providers are selected per project from options such as these.

05 Backend and data

Backend and data

Application logic and information organized for reliable use.

Backend engineering connects everything else. Two backend engineers design APIs, authentication and authorization, data models and background services, and integrate with existing systems when a project needs to work alongside them.

  2. 02

    Code review

Every change is reviewed by another engineer before it is merged.

  3. 03

    Relevant automated checks

Tests and checks that fit the system run on each change.

  4. 04

    Accessibility checks

Interfaces are checked for keyboard use, contrast, structure and focus.

  5. 05

    Deployment preparation

Releases move through a repeatable pipeline and matching environments.

  6. 06
